Knit Glossary

Common Knit Stitches
(Keep in mind list is not all inclusive.  It includes mainly the stitches and abbreviations I use in my patterns and as I use a new one, I will add it to the list.  My plan is to eventually make videos and link each one so you can see how it's done.)

Slip knot
Magic Loop Method
CO       = cast on
Rnd     = round
MC      = main color
CC       = contrasting color
WS      = wrong side
RS        = right side
pm      = place marker
tog       = together
sk        = skip
yo        = yarn over
yb        = bring yarn to back of work
yf         = bring yarn to front of work
st         = stitch
sl st     = slip stitch
sl1       = slip next stitch knitwise
sl1K    = slip next stitch knitwise
sl1P     = slip next stitch purlwise
psso    = pass slipped stitch over
FL        = front loop
BL        = back loop
K         = knit
K1below = knit into next stitch 1 row below
K1tbl  = knit 1 through back of loop
P          = purl
inc       =increase by knitting into front and back of next stitch
M1      = make 1 by picking up horizontal loop lying before next stitch and knitting into the back of the loop
M1P    = make 1 by picking up horizontal loop lying before next stitch and purling into the back of the loop
yo        = yarn over the needle (makes 1 extra stitch)
dec      = decrease by knitting/purling next 2 stitches together
K2tog  = knit 2 together
K2togtbl = knit 2 together through back loops
ssk       = slip knitwise, slip knitwise, pass both stitches back to left needle, then knit through back loops together
P2tog  = purl 2 together
P2togtbl = purl 2 stitches together through back loops
MB      = make bobble
st st     = stockinette stitch
F/O     = fasten off
